“Who are you?”

If you were asked this question, how would you answer?

The Way of the Warrior, Part 1: Identity is designed to help us answer this question truthfully and with complete understanding of who we really are. It challenges us to take a deep dive into our very core to discover all the elements we’ve used throughout our lives to create our identity. It then compares and contrasts what we learn with what the Bible says is our true identity, the person God intends for us to be.

Is this book for you or your small group?

The foundation of learning to grow and mature in Christ starts with identity. Everything else is built on top of who you are, according to Jesus. The Way of the Warrior is designed as a daily field guide to help you understand who you’re really supposed to be, so you can establish disciplines that lead you toward fulfilling your purpose

——-

“As a Christian, why do I keep failing?”

“Why am I struggling to be the spiritual leader of my family?”

“Why don’t I feel like I’m growing spiritually?”

The answer? You have a power problem.

Does a toaster make toast? Most of us would agree that yes, a toaster does make toast. But if it is not plugged into a power source needed to run the toaster, it will never create the toast it was designed to make.

Just like the toaster, as believers and followers in Christ Jesus, we are faced with a power problem. Although He has saved us, we are still in this meat sack called flesh, and the desire to do fleshly things and follow fleshly ways will always be at odds with our spiritual nature. Therefore, if we desire to overcome it, grow in maturity, and be the family leaders God intends for us to be, we need to be plugged in to ouspiritual power source.

In the book of John, Jesus told His disciples that He expected them to be productive. He also tells them that, apart from Him, they would not be able to do anything. That’s because He is the source of power they would need to accomplish the work of the Kingdom of God.

This workbook covers the first two of what is known as The Nine Disciplines. They are the Foundational Disciplines—Prayer/Quiet Time, and Bible Study. We are spiritual “houses,” and as such, a strong foundation must be laid before any construction can take place. This is why first establishing these two disciplines is of utmost importance for any Christian warrior who desires the strength needed to become the person he is designed to be.

As Savior of our souls, our response to Jesus should be to seek Him daily with all our hearts and spend time with Him in prayer. We need a daily renewal in our understanding of what God expects from us, as we learn to live a life as effective Christians.

In The Way of the Warrior, the Foundational Disciplines, our hope is that you will get “plugged in” by:

  • Developing a biblical understanding of what prayer/quiet time really is; and
  • Learning to study your Bible by utilizing the daily applications this workbook offers.

UP NEXT AND SOON TO BE AVAILABLE BOOKS WILL BE THE TACTICAL DISCIPLINES AND THE BATTLE OF THE MIND.
